A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
